The Sr. HR Compliance Specialist will play a critical leadership role in managing and overseeing Miller’s Ale House Human Resource compliance programs. This individual will ensure that all company policies, procedures, and handbooks remain current and in full compliance with state, federal, and local laws. They will also assist in identifying and addressing potential compliance risks and offer expert guidance on HR-related regulatory matters. This role is designed for an experienced professional with a deep understanding of compliance in the HR field and the ability to proactively manage HR compliance.

 

   Policy & Handbook Management:

  • Develop, update, and maintain Miller’s Ale House HR policies, employee handbooks, and other HR-related documentation to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Lead the review and revision of existing policies and handbooks to reflect changes in federal, state, or local labor laws.
  • Ensure all Miller’s Ale House policies are clearly communicated to employees and management and are consistently enforced.

Compliance with State, Federal, and Local Laws:

  • Stay informed and up to date on changes to federal, state, and local labor laws, ensuring the organization complies with all relevant legislation.
  • Monitor and evaluate compliance with labor laws, including wage and hour laws, anti-discrimination laws, family leave laws, and workplace safety regulations.

HRIS:

  • Utilization of HRIS system (UltiPro) for HR processes
  • Partners with HRIS Analyst in metric-based report development
  • Responds to Operations inquiries regarding the HRIS system

Audit & Reporting:

  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with all HR-related laws and internal policies.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior management regarding compliance status and any potential areas of risk.
  • Collaborate with external auditors, if necessary, to verify compliance with applicable laws.
  • Conduct audits of food, allergen, alcohol service certifications to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with managers to ensure all staff involved in food and alcohol service are appropriately certified and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

 

Employee Relations & Support:

  • Act as a subject matter expert for compliance-related employee inquiries, addressing concerns regarding company policies, legal rights, and regulatory matters.
  • Advise HR leadership and management on compliance issues and best practices to reduce legal risks.

Other Duties as Assigned:

  • Perform other related tasks or special projects as needed to ensure the company’s HR compliance program remains strong and effective.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Certification in HR (PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in HR compliance, employee relations, or labor law.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong proficiency with HRIS systems (e.g., UKG, Workday, SAP, Oracle).
  • Previous experience in creating and maintaining employee handbooks and corporate policies.

  • Strong understanding of HR compliance and legal requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments to implement compliance initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
